Doodle Wool & Bamboo Silk Rug by Christoffer Joergensen

The new ZigZagZurich Artist Carpet & Rug collection celebrates original artwork woven into luxury rugs & carpets for the floor or the wall.

“Doodle” by Christoffer Joergensen is all about texture, an intricate chaos of soft colors that the eye can travel across and discover new details in. The initial idea for the carpet was to create a pattern that contrasted pixels with organic shapes. As the design evolved, however, the pattern became more and more intricate and the distinction between round and geometric forms increasingly dissolved as a result. During the design process, the focus moved onto the material properties of the carpet. Bamboo silk has a sensuous velour quality. Its tonality changes in accordance with the point of view and the light incidence. By contrast, the carpet’s base material is a wool with a rougher texture. In the end, a very dense line drawing was created with the wool as the background and the silk as the lines. The rug is a field the eye can travel across along the lines and discover new details, forms, and shades in.

Using a combination of wool and bamboo silk, the carpets are woven in Europe using the highest quality looms that give both a luxurious feel yet long-lasting / hard-wearing.  Each sq meter contains 820,000 points. The carpet is finished with a non-slip finish underneath.

The bamboo silk pile has the feel of real silk - soft and durable.
