Philip Carter

Philip Carter graduated from the Royal College of Art in London in 1980 with a master’s degree in graphic design. He has founded two design studios, including one with his son Joe, while continually exploring his creative impulses. His work is inspired by a daily practice of drawing and a penchant for collecting visual scraps, reflecting a belief in blurring the lines between Fine and Applied Arts. Carter’s collages often feature recycled materials, from old cloth - covered books to found objects from the Thames riverbank. With a sketchbook always by his side, Carter is driven by the belief that inspiration can strike anytime and anywhere.
