Gregor Belibi Minya
Painter and sound artist of Cameroonian and Hungarian origin,
I was born in 1989 in Cherbourg (France).
Fine Arts diploma, I currently live and work in France.
My work questions the origin of the forces that determine us
and makes my social and cultural structures visible.
From my unconscious, images reappear that I capture through drawing. I use the drawings as a starting point for my paintings, I deepen the informative image collected, and develop its potential, its energy.
There is a musical dimension in my work. My paintings can be observed musically, and read by their visual, polyrhythmic, polyphonic, and harmonic sounds.
Visually linked to color, rhythm, and materiality, my work is also very corporeal. I often work on the ground, like the peasant working his vegetable garden: I rub, knead and dig into the color. This connection to the earth is essential for me.
I use my work as a space for emancipation, working on the human condition; always plunging a little deeper into my roots, my work is a cultural bridge between Europe and Africa.
