The new ZigZagZurich 2020 Wool Blankets Collection adds an exciting new roster of artists from around the globe: New York City designer Denise Carbonell, London based Dj/producer & graphic artist Leo Zero and artist Yanyi Ha, Bristol-based illustrator George Greaves and Chicago based artist Kelly Knaga.
Denise Carbonell's incredibly detailed hand-knitted metalwork and her ‘Mobiles‘ series have been translated into the ‘Wired One‘, ‘Wired Two‘ and ‘Mobiles‘ blankets. ‘Wired One‘ and ‘Wired Two‘ was inspired by a picture of one of her large, handmade wire hands, while ‘Mobile‘ was inspired by a snapshot of a handmade mobile in motion. Carbonell is a multidisciplinary artist from New York City who works with metal, fiber, wood, wire, paint and paper. She began her career on 7th Avenue and recently moved her design studio, Metal&Thread, to Asheville, N.C.

The love of the richness of African Zulu culture and the Asian jungle atmosphere are reflected in the 'Bengali', 'Jafari', 'Hasani One' and 'Hasani Two' blankets designed by Michele Rondelli & Sophie Probst. Both artists are part of the design team at ZigZagZurich. Sophie Probst graduated from the Stuttgart Academy of Fine Arts. Her greatest love was the production of modern textiles in the classic craft of weaving and knitting. With his feeling for the spirit of the times, creative director Michele Rondelli always manages to create successful collections with designers and artists and to define the direction of the company as a crossroads between creativity, originality and practicality.

'Besalu' by Kelly Knaga explores natural and digital landscapes by superimposing form, image, colour, lines and patterns. In her work she studies and uses historical and sometimes fictional references in anthropological studies, mapping and storytelling. Kelly teaches and directs the Design Department at Indiana University Northwest.

In Leo Zero 'Cycles', his professional mix of DJ and graphic artist is fully expressed, bringing the vibes of the 90s to life. DJ LeoZero produces and re-mixes for stars of the international music scene. He just did a remix of Dua Lipa for Warner Records and has worked with artists like Madonna and Lana Del Ray before. Zero lives in Camden Town in the North of London where he runs the LEO ZERO STUDIO where he creates and designs music and experiments in various fields. The design was inspired by drawings of detailed geometries for Two Tribes Brew in London.

'Aspect' and 'Framework' by Yanyi Ha deals with the relations between architecture and nature. Yanyi Ha is an interior designer and artist living in London. After completing a BA in Interior Design in Seoul, South Korea, she worked as an interior designer for 12 years and moved to London in 2015 to complete her MA in Interior Design at the Royal College of Art in London. Since then she has explored the relationship between architecture and nature through various design projects in her studio "Archidreamer". She focuses on creating minimalist artworks and prints inspired by the cross section between architecture and nature. She instils a sense of natural beauty in artificially created architecture, transforming static pieces into something dynamic and alive. Through her artworks she tries to express architecture as a space that creates wonderful memories, moments and experiences, not just as a structure.

The mystical drawings of George Greaves 'Dionysus One' and 'Dionysus Two' let mythological illustrations revive. Greaves is a Bristol-based freelance illustrator who creates works inspired by architecture and influenced by Giorgio De Chirico, David Hockney, Matisse, Magritte and Escher. George studied illustration and visual communication at Westminster University. Dreams, time and contemplation are the key words that better express his art. "My creative process is very intuitive, usually I start with a vague idea and just see where it takes me" - George Greaves. He has worked with clients such as Bulgari, the Financial Times, Soho House and LUSH.
