Joschi Herczeg

Joschi Herczeg is an artist and photographer based in Zurich.

Since 2008, he has been working on a series of photographs capturing controlled explosions through a specially developed system that synchronises the camera with the explosive material.

Originally created in response to ideas about time, chaos, and entropy, this ongoing series explores the fragile balance between control and unpredictability.

Since 2024, Herczeg has also staged personalised explosion ritual performances for individuals, expanding his practice into participatory art experiences.

He is a member of the artist collective JocJonJosch.
