Milano layers rectangular forms, contrasting bands and small circular details into a playful geometric repeat. Designed by Nathalie Du Pasquier and George Sowden, the wallpaper creates an illusion of depth while keeping a precise, rhythmic structure.

Geometry with a Playful Perspective

Blocks and bands overlap in a composition that shifts between a flat pattern and an imagined three-dimensional space. Small circular accents punctuate the repeat, giving Milano a distinctive balance of order, movement and graphic surprise.

Prepare your wall, then hang the wallpaper one strip at a time. The hanging method depends on the wallpaper type, so check which material you’ve chosen before you begin.

Step 1: Prepare the Wall

  • Make sure the wall is clean, dry, smooth and free from loose paint or old wallpaper.
  • Fill any holes or cracks, then sand the surface smooth.
  • Mark a straight vertical guide near where you’ll hang the first strip. This helps keep the wallpaper level.

  • Apply suitable wallpaper paste evenly to the wall, one strip at a time.
  • Hang each strip dry, following your vertical guide.
  • Match the design at the edges and place strips side by side without overlapping.
  • Smooth gently from the centre outwards to remove air bubbles.

  • Activate the backing with water, following the instructions supplied with your wallpaper.
  • Hang each strip, matching the design at the edges. Place strips side by side without overlapping.

Step 3: Finish the Edges

  • Trim excess wallpaper at the ceiling and skirting board with a sharp knife and straight edge.
  • Let the wallpaper dry naturally, away from direct heat or strong draughts.
